Sometimes I think that I attract the rain in some way. It doesn´t matter where I´m going and what kind of weather is supposed to be according to a weather forecast, it gets rainy and cold. With such kind of luck, I will bring a weather change to Portugal that is suffering an unbelievable heat at the moment, as I´m going there in August. Recently, my husband and I went to Amsterdam for a weekend. The weather was supposed to be quite comfortable, a little bit cloudy but without rain. I was very diligent while choosing my outfits I was going to shoot in Amsterdam. I prepared two outfits for each day of our stay. I always take some special styles while traveling to shoot for my blog. So, I put everything together and was ready to spend two beautiful days in one of my favorite cities ever. Unfortunately, the weather decided differently and prepared some surprises for us.
Cheated by the weather forecast
When we arrived in Amsterdam on a Friday evening, I was so happy as the weather was just splendid there. We stayed at the apartment we had found via Airbnb and went to explore the district. Unfortunately, it was too late for a photo shooting as then it got too dark for good pictures. It wasn´t a problem for me, as we had another two days to spend there. I can´t describe my astonishment the moment I looked out of the window next morning. The streets were wet and the sky was overcast. Still, after some hours of waiting the rain stopped and we could go outside without an umbrella. The only problem was that it got very windy and cold and both outfits I prepared for Amsterdam were too summery and light. I decided for the “warmer” one and we went to look for a nice location to shoot.
While taking pictures for this outfit, I needed to be very attentive in order to survive in the true sense of the word. The real danger came not from the cars driving around, but from hundreds of bicycles which didn´t have an intention to stop near me. It is truly said that the most interesting things always remain behind the camera. In my case, I needed to hop to the side of the road every five seconds to stay alive. Additionally, plus 18 degrees Celsius is not the best temperature to wear a t-shirt. So, my husband held my sweater which I dreamed of the whole time of the photo shooting. Well, sometimes you need to clench your teeth to get nice pictures from the place and the outfit you chose. Nonetheless, we spent a great time in this overwhelming city.
As for my today´s look, I decided for my favorite skirt with a retro touch. I just love the Fifties’ styles. I found this piece two years ago in Barcelona and it was love at first sight. I paired it with a light t-shirt with a „Paris“ print. Choosing it, I wanted to create a light city contrast with my Amsterdam look. White “Air Force” sneakers made the outfit look more casual and modern. Additionally, such shoes are very comfortable to wear while taking a long city walk. As for the accessories, I combined gold and silver elements which gave a nice and consistent mix.
I´m wearing: t-shirt by Esprit / skirt by Maje / sneakers by Nike / earrings by Joidárt / necklace by Joidárt / necklace by Swarovski / bracelet by Patrizia Pepe /
