For sure you know that a kimono is not only a traditional Japanese costume but also a trendy fashion piece. Last year, we fell in love with kimonos in boho style. Such pieces had been seen on Coachella and other music festivals. This year, kimonos look differently and at first sight look like dressing gowns. Probably, such trends like lingerie and pajama pieces are the reason for such a style shift. Of course, a kimono is not a piece for everyone. Still, it can style up every basic outfit and make it a street-style like one.
Do you want to go out wearing your dressing gown?
The newest and trendiest kimonos indeed look like dressing gowns. Almost every model has two big outside pockets and a belt which makes it look even more like something you would probably wear after taking a bath. A print is the main thing that turns such kimonos to their Asian roots. Bright colors, floral prints, and shiny materials like satin are the things which make it so trendy. I decided for a long kimono with a floral print and black edges. When I tried it on for the first time, I was directly asked, whether I wanted to go out wearing a dressing gown? After my detailed explanation that the kimono was trendy and was meant to be worn outside, I got a practical piece of advice. When this trend would be out, I could use it as a dressing gown and nobody would even know it hadn´t been one.
A kimono – a practical allrounder
A similar kimono is not only a very stylish piece but also a very practical one. In summer you can wear it on the beach to protect your shoulders from the sun. In the evening, you can wear it with a simple t-shirt and hot pants a get a stylish look.
We had quite a bad fall start here in Germany but a couple of sunny and warm days in the end of September. Of course, I had to use them and wear my beautiful kimono once again this season before it gets too cold. I decided for a white basic shirt and skinny jeans. As for the accessories, I chose a mix and match combination of golden and silver necklaces. Unusual Dior-like sunnies with pink mirrored glasses completed my kimono-based outfit. As you can see, just one piece can change the whole look and make it much more interesting.
I´m wearing: t-shirt by H&M / jeans by Abercrombie & Fitch / sandals by Office London / kimono by She In / bag by Patrizia Pepe / sunnies Dior-like / necklace by Thomas Sabo / necklace by H&M / ring by Christ /
