I am a huge fan of coats and wear them a lot during late fall and winter. Even frequent rains in Germany can´t make me change them for a down jacket. Actually, the myth about down jackets being more practical and warmer than wool coats is so untrue because nowadays coats can be even warmer than down jackets. Additionally, coats are much more attractive than down jackets which make every outfit look like a sporty one. Cocoon coats celebrate their comeback this season and are to find at stores by almost all famous designers. Though, many girls feel kind of insecure about cocoon coats because of their voluminous shape. Many don´t even know what to pair such coats with and whom they suit better? To me, a cocoon coat is one of the easiest fashion pieces to style which suits almost every type of figure.
A cocoon coat is an allrounder
Barely any other type of a coat is so versatile and makes such a great combination of so many different styles. Styling it with sneakers will create a great semi-sporty urban outfit. Overknees paired with a cocoon coat will make a sexy and bold look. Classic pumps like in my today´s outfit will create an elegant and feminine outfit. If you want to wear your coat with almost everything, you should choose it in a neutral color like beige, gray or black. The wide cut of the cocoon coat can also be changed just putting a belt around your waist, which will also look even trendier.
Who can wear a cocoon coat?
Though the cut and the form of a cocoon coat are very unusual, girls and women with almost every kind of figure can wear it. It doesn´t matter, whether slim or a little curvy, a cocoon coat will flatter everyone. Though, if you have a bit more of volume, I wouldn´t recommend you to choose such a coat. Something more feminine and slim fitting like a classical A-line coat would flutter you much better. Still, the decision is yours and if a cocoon coat is your dream, you can simply put a wide belt around your waist and accentuate it.
Outfit of the day: a cocoon coat paired with skinny jeans and a pop of green
For this first outfit based on a cocoon coat in the beige color, I decided for a simple combination of slim jeans and a black turtleneck. To pop the look a little bit, I chose suede leather pumps in green. It doesn’t only make it look more interesting but also adds more complexity which is so much needed for a simple outfit. A cute and practical cross body bag by Massimo Dutti perfectly rounded up my city chic outfit. As you see, it´s easy to wear such a coat even if you are a slim girl like myself.
