“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”

The famous saying of one of the most prominent late antiquity philosophers is truthful even in the 21st century. Traveling makes us wiser and lets us understand the world better. I love it to meet new people, to get to know different cultures and countries. Though, many of us surely want to visit some very distant countries. Statistically, the majority of people barely go to the places, cities, and countries that are situated near the place they live. The reason is that people are sure that these places won´t go anywhere and there is always an option to go there even in twenty years. Distant destinations though should be visited right now. Let´s be honest, many of us don´t even know what interesting places they have in the towns and cities they live in. I admit that I thought exactly the same way. That is why, though I have been living in Dusseldorf, Germany since 2011, I didn´t visit such countries as Luxembourg. Finally, I decided to go there and see this small and unfortunately less-known for tourists, country.
Beautiful country in the heart of Europe with many different and interesting sides
Luxembourg is situated just three hours away from Dusseldorf. Actually, it´s not even a distance. The duchy is famous for its numerous banks where you can open an account with a bank, provided, you have a nice amount of money to do so. Still, it´s not the only reason to visit Luxembourg, though almost every bank presents an interesting and creative architectural monument. There are also many art pieces near banks. So, you can find something special even if you´re not a traditional tourist and your goal is to open an account.
The duchy and the same called capital Luxembourg have so many different facets that everyone can find something to his or her liking. All the nature lovers will be overwhelmed with the beauty of forests, mountains, and other unique places. By the way, some of them are just 10 minutes away from the center of the city. All the city strolls and shopping lovers will be pleased with a great number of different cafés, restaurants, chain stores and designer boutiques. Obviously, the Luxembourgers are very creative, because almost every street is decorated with different statues, monuments, or modern art pieces.
The most beautiful balcony of Europe “Le chemin de la Corniche”
It doesn’t matter, whether the goal of your coming to Luxembourg is a financial or a touristic one, one thing you definitely should see. It´s one of the most popular and most beautiful promenades of the world and stays under the protection of UNESCO “Le chemin de la Corniche”. This short promenade gives you a splendid view on the historical part of the city and a part of the city wall. You surely won´t forget this unique view. The promenade is a calm place where you not only can observe the beauty of the place but also be with yourself and your thoughts. My first thought was like grabbing my notebook and a thermos of black coffee and work on something creative. The place is made for thinking and writing.
It´s worth visiting Luxembourg
Unfortunately, there is still a prejudice that Luxembourg is too small to be interesting and to be worth to come. There aren´t many tourists in there. On one hand, it´s kind of good, because there are no crowds of tourists. On the other hand, Luxembourg is definitely a place to see. I´m glad to have been there.
Have you ever been to Luxembourg? If not, did my short travel post inspire you to go there?
